De/coloniality and displacement:

Ontological occupations and the historicity of migration

Abstract

This text is offered in the spirit of the Latin American open-ended ensayo (essay form). It has been composed by weaving together readings of songs and music videos by well-known artists concerning migration, on the one hand, and theoretico-political reflections on global processes of territorial occupation by dominant patriarchal capitalist modern/colonial ontologies and political economies, on the other. Particular attention is paid to Africa as limit and possibility, and to design as a tool for futural re-imaginings towards a pluriverse of worlds, necessarily without “migrants.”
